Yvette is a professional, DONA trained doula, whose warm, informative style has helped 200+ families to reduce stress, know their choices and feel supported to navigate birth and the postpartum season the way that works best for them.
Yvette is the mom of grown twins, and prior to becoming a doula, spent many years as a group facilitator and teacher for a variety of parent-baby programs, (including groups for premature babies and multiples), as well as being a peer-to-peer breastfeeding mentor in her children’s early years. She has been a Certified Infant Massage Teacher for over a decade, and has completed training in Accupressure for Labour, Teaching Skills (through the Douglas College Perinatal Program), as well as Biologix Occupational Health and Safety Training for placenta encapsulators, CPR for Healthcare Providers, and a course on the MICROBIOME. In 2023, Yvette has completed her 136 hr breastfeeding for healthcare providers course and is working on her sleep-consultant certification. Yvette loves to keep up with new studies about pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum season, so she can pass along important information to her clients as they prepare for the addition to their family!
When she’s not “doula-ing,” Yvette enjoys trips to sunny destinations, gardening, and creative and geeky pursuits, like painting, photography and crafts. You can find her often with her hubby and bff of 32 years watching Star Wars and superhero movies (Wonderwoman is the best!)

We truly can’t say enough good things about Yvette. Our labour did not go as planned at all. We had originally planned for a home birth but ended up with 5 days of prodromal labour and 3.5 days of actual labour with a bed/staffing shortage in the entire region, a diversion, an augmentation of labour, and an eventual c-section. She was very quick to answer my texts when I had questions before labour started, and when we were in labour, she was answering calls on the first ring. Yvette was there day and night, hour after hour, through the entire process, helping us navigate all the changes in our plans. She educated us, offered suggestions when asked, supported our decisions, advocated for us, comforted us, and reassured us. Despite the obvious sleep deprivation and challenges presented, she never wavered in her support. I do not know how we would have made it through without her. My labour experience would have been much different (worse) had she not been there. This was my first birth and there’s no way I would ever have another without a doula. It was well-worth the investment and I would choose Yvette again 100 times over. Thank you for everything!

My partner and I are so thankful for Yvette during our first pregnancy and delivery. I had a very long prelabour (approx. 2 days) so she was able to come to my home at 2:30am to help me move through my contractions through a variety of positions so I could reach the active labour phase. During the delivery, she was amazing at helping me breathe through my contractions, and more importantly during the pushing stage she kept me calm and focused which led me to have an efficient delivery (1 hr of pushing) and only a couple of minor (first degree) skin tears. My partner and I couldn’t have done this without Yvette; we’ve talked extensively about how we really didn’t know what to expect, but with her by our side, he was also able to watch our child being born. We’re also amazed and really happy that we didn’t need any medical interventions. We would highly recommend to anyone who is expecting to hire a doula, in particular Yvette!

Yvette was a HUGE part of our home birth experience. She was so supportive during her visits before the birth that we really felt like a team, ready to move forward as soon as baby decided he was ready to arrive. She was a rock for my husband, very comforting and reassuring and went above and beyond with the clean up to make sure we were well taken care of. Yvette has a very calming nature and she helped me feel peaceful throughout the birth which helped for a good birthing experience. After our son was born, Yvette checked in with us and was available for any questions we had. She is very knowledgeable and I always came away from our meetings feeling encouraged in my role as a mom. I would recommend Yvette without hesitation to anyone who would love some extra support for such a life changing event!
